Harisa’s journey

“The Myanmar military burnt my house down in the middle of the night. My two year old brother was killed in the fire. We had to flee immediately.

We swam across the river and entered a forest. We waited there for days, hungry and tired. I could hear children screaming from the village nearby.

My family and I walked for 20 days to get from Myanmar to Bangladesh. We heard that other Rohingya families were living there.

We are now safe.

I like that I can study here, and play with other children. But most nights, I cannot sleep.

I dream about my little brother and my home in Myanmar.”
