Our response goal and support

BRAC’s humanitarian response seeks to provide life-saving and building-back-better support to people affected by natural and human-made disasters and crises. It addresses affected populations’ needs with quality and rationalised services irrespective of gender, age, race, class, and ability. The response is inclusive, and prioritises in meeting the Core Humanitarian Standards.

We disseminate early warning messages on any impending disasters to communities living in vulnerability through various communication channels, to amplify the government’s initiatives and increase community awareness and preparedness. The channels are mainly community radio, mobile-SMS, miking, social media and BRAC’s frontline staff.

Our response support is need-based, ranging from immediate lifesaving to early recovery needs of the communities. Our range of support includes evacuation of vulnerable populations, providing immediate survival packages, non-food and emergency shelter items, first aid and emergency health care, emergency WASH facilities, multipurpose cash assistances, cash for work services, repairing of WASH facilities and critical infrastructures, child-friendly spaces and play labs.
